ISM have provided a complete Waste Management Service for over 45 years.
ISM was established in 1965 as a small, family run business by John Allen (snr), specialising in the dismantling and removal of machinery and scrap metal. In the early 1970’s it soon became apparent that scrap metal and heavy engineering was on the decline and waste management was the way forward. The waste disposal industry has expanded massively over the years and ISM has expanded with it. Our dedication to customer service, quality and professionalism has enabled us to develop into one if the UK’s largest family run Waste Management Companies. Although we have grown in size we still pride ourselves on our ability to provide our customers with a personal level of service, very rarely found in large organisations.
Our dedication to improving practices and procedures is not new. Back in the 1970’s we recognised the benefits recycling had on the environment and were one of the first companies to develop our own onsite Materials Recycling Facility. This facility is used throughout the day by our fleet of skip loaders, Rear End Loaders and Hook Lifters, as well as other waste contractors’ vehicles.
Our decision to build our Waste Transfer Station in the early 80’s came with the introduction of the Landfill Directive and the move away from Landfill. This is now the jewel in the crown of our business as it allows waste to be sorted and processed before being loaded onto one of our artics and sent for recycling or to landfill.
Today we provide a waste management service to over 300 customers ranging from local authorities to large industrial blue chip companies. Our services include waste collection, treatment, incineration, recycling, waste audit, technical assessment and on site waste management.
Today our facilities boast a state of the art waste transfer station fully integrated into our Metal Recycling Facility.
